Beyoğlu and Galata Manicure and Pedicure | Medical and Classic Nail Care

At the heart of beautiful, well-groomed nails is professional care that respects the natural nail structure and is carried out with the right techniques.

Located in Istanbul’s historic Galata district, Beyoğlu Aesthetic & Nail Art Studio by DRTU offers classic manicures and pedicures as well as medical manicures and pedicures performed with professional e-file devices.

Our approach to hand and foot care is not only about creating an aesthetic look; it is about protecting the integrity of the natural nail, removing dead skin build-up around the nail in a controlled way and providing careful treatment under hygienic conditions. We assess each client’s nail structure, skin sensitivity and personal needs to determine the right care method. We aim to achieve cleaner, neater and well-groomed nails without unnecessarily thinning the natural nail surface and while avoiding excessive intervention in living tissue.

What Is a Medical Manicure?

A medical manicure is a specialised care method in which dead skin build-up and surface irregularities around the nail are removed in a controlled way using professional e-file devices.

Unlike a classic manicure, the nails generally do not need to be soaked in water beforehand.

In this dry technique, e-file bits suited to the nail structure and the sensitivity of the surrounding tissue are used.

This method allows dead skin build-up along the nail edges to be reached with greater precision. During the treatment, care is taken not to apply excessive pressure to the nail root, not to wear down the natural nail plate unnecessarily and to preserve the integrity of the protective skin tissue.

Our core principle in medical manicures is to work precisely and in a controlled way only on the areas that need care, without damaging the living tissue around the nail.

This approach allows for more detailed, careful treatment, especially for people with sensitive skin around the nails.

What Is the Difference Between a Medical Manicure and a Classic Manicure?

Both treatments aim to create clean, well-groomed and aesthetic nails. However, the equipment and techniques used are different.

Classic Manicure

In a classic manicure, the hands are usually soaked in warm water to soften the skin around the nails.

The nails are then shaped to a suitable length, any necessary dead skin is removed and care around the nails is completed.

A hand scrub, moisturising care and nail polish can be added if desired.

Medical Manicure

In a medical manicure, professional e-file devices and special bits of varying precision are used.

Work on the nail edges and the dead skin build-up around them can be more controlled.

Particular care is taken not to thin the nail surface unnecessarily and to preserve the protective tissue.

With the right choice of bit, an appropriate device speed and a precise technique, the risk of mechanical trauma to the natural nail can be reduced.Which method is chosen depends on the current condition of the nail and the person’s care needs.

What Is a Medical Pedicure?

A medical pedicure is the controlled care of the toenails and the hardened skin build-up around them using professional devices.

In everyday life, toenails are exposed to factors such as pressure from shoes, standing for long periods and repeated friction. Over time, this can lead to hardened skin around the nails, surface irregularities and a greater need for care.

In our medical pedicure, the length, shape and thickness of the nails and the condition of the surrounding tissue are assessed.

Using suitable e-file bits, dead skin build-up and surface hardening are removed in a controlled way. While the nail edges are tidied, care is taken to protect healthy tissue and avoid unnecessarily deep intervention.

Our aim is not only to create a more aesthetic look, but to help you achieve feet that are better cared for and more comfortable in everyday life.

The Difference Between a Classic Pedicure and a Medical Pedicure

In a classic pedicure, the feet are usually soaked in warm water to soften the skin. Nail trimming, shaping, cleaning around the nails and appropriate surface care are then carried out.

A medical pedicure uses a dry technique with professional e-file devices and special bits.

This method allows more precise work, especially along the nail edges and on hardened skin build-up.

In both treatments, the main goal is to achieve a clean, well-groomed look while protecting the integrity of the natural nail and skin.

Precise Care That Protects the Natural Nail Structure

The nail root, the nail plate and the protective tissue around it play an important role in healthy nail growth.

For this reason, during a manicure and pedicure, living tissue should not be cut unnecessarily, the nail surface should not be over-thinned and pressure should not be applied to the nail root.

At Beyoğlu Aesthetic & Nail Art Studio by DRTU, we use professional e-file techniques and take care to work in a controlled way only on the areas that need care.

While dead skin build-up around the nail is gently removed, the aim is to preserve the protective structure of the natural nail as much as possible.

Regular, correct care can help the area around the nails look neater and reduce the risk of irritation caused by incorrect intervention.

Ingrown Nail Care and Special Treatments

An ingrown nail is a condition, most often seen on the big toes, in which the edge of the nail presses into the surrounding tissue.

Incorrect nail trimming, tight shoes, repeated pressure and the natural structure of the nail can contribute to ingrown nails.

At our studio, the current condition of people with ingrown nail complaints is assessed and they are informed about suitable care options.

In mild cases, correct nail trimming and protective care aimed at reducing pressure can help.

The special care required for ingrown nails is not included in the standard pedicure price and is charged separately.

In cases of inflammation, discharge, noticeable swelling, severe pain or recurrent ingrown nails, a doctor’s assessment and, where necessary, medical treatment are required.

Our Hygiene and Sterilisation Standards

Hygiene is one of the most important parts of our professional manicure and pedicure services.

At Beyoğlu Aesthetic & Nail Art Studio by DRTU, our reusable, sterilisable metal instruments are sterilised with devices that follow the steam sterilisation principles also used in operating theatres.

Once sterilised, instruments and reusable e-file bits are stored in suitable sterile pouches.

The pouches are opened before the treatment.

Our nail files are single-use. A new file is used for every client.

Our work areas and equipment are prepared in line with hygiene protocols before every treatment.

Through these practices, we aim to reduce the risk of cross-contamination and offer our clients a professional care environment they can trust.

Complementary Care with Hand and Foot Scrubs

In manicures and pedicures, the appearance of the skin on the hands and feet matters, not just the nails.

Hand and foot scrubs help remove dead skin cells that build up on the skin’s surface, leaving the skin looking softer, smoother and better cared for.

Hand Scrub

A hand scrub helps the skin look softer, especially on hands with dryness and surface roughness. The treatment is carried out with products suited to the skin type and can be finished with moisturising care if needed.

Foot Scrub

A foot scrub helps reduce superficial dead skin build-up in suitable areas and leaves the skin looking smoother.

Especially for people with dryness on the heels and soles, scrub and moisturising treatments suited to their skin condition may be chosen.

Important note: Hand and foot scrubs are not included in the standard manicure and pedicure prices. If requested, they are charged separately as an additional service.

Gel Polish, French and Nail Art Options

After a manicure or pedicure, the natural look of the nails can be kept, or the treatment can be finished with colours and designs to suit your personal taste.

You can choose from regular polish, gel polish, French, nude tones, gel overlay and personalised nail art designs.

A range of options can be offered, from a simple, natural look to bolder designs.

Gel polish, gel overlay and custom nail art are not included in the standard manicure and pedicure prices. These services are charged separately.

Letting us know about any additional services you would like before your appointment helps us plan the treatment time and pricing accurately.

What to Pay Attention to After a Manicure and Pedicure

After a manicure and pedicure, regularly moisturising the area around the nails is important for protecting the skin barrier.

It is recommended not to pick at the cuticles, not to put strain on the nails and to wear protective gloves during prolonged contact with cleaning products.

After foot care, it is important to wear comfortable shoes, keep the feet clean and dry and keep the nails at a suitable length.

Regular care can help the nails look cleaner, neater and more aesthetic.

How Often Should You Have a Manicure and Pedicure?

How often you have a manicure and pedicure depends on your personal needs.

The nail growth rate, skin build-up around the nails, daily habits and the products used can affect the care interval.

Professional care can generally be planned every 3–4 weeks. However, shorter or longer intervals may be chosen depending on the current condition of the nails and the person’s needs.
